Burgundy butter icing ... HELP!!

Postby michelle » Thu Feb 04, 2010 8:50 pm

Evening All,
I have been asked to make some cupcakes and the colour for the icing is BURGUNDY aaargh ...
I have searched and searched on the internet for burgundy colour paste but cant find any.
I have used Ruby colour paste but this was still a little red for my liking. Has anyone got any tips on how to make it more burgundy and less red
Thanks in advance
Michelle

I have used the Claret colour before and does result in a deep burgundy - hope this helps.

Michelle,
If this doesn't give you the desired depth of colour, try using House of Sugar's Ruby powder, (available online at House of Sugar), mixed well with a 1/2 tspn of warm boiled water. I manage to acheive really dark colours with this. Be prepared for lots of pink teeth & bright red tongues though.
